Central Florida Preparatory Academy has adopted and fully implemented the Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) Standards. These are new educational standards for mathematics and language arts designed to replace the standards based on Common Core.
Overall, the Florida B.E.S.T. Standards focus on clear and simple goals and benchmarks for students to reach during their K-12 education. The new standards are designed to be easily understood by schools, students, and families, as well as increase academic rigor each year.
This new standard was created by Florida experts, according to the Florida Department of Education's website. More than 80 Florida-based teachers and stakeholder groups were involved in creating the new educational standard. B.E.S.T. will have a specific focus on English and math.
K-12 education is the foundation of a student's academic career. It provides the basic knowledge and skills necessary for success in college and the workplace. We provide a student-centered preparatory program that develops our students’ desire and ability to think and learn about the world around them while promoting college readiness.
This program promotes intercultural experiences, awareness, goal setting, and outside-the-box thinking. We actively encourage students to passionately pursue academic and extracurricular interests while preparing them to pursue higher education.
The classroom environment focused on asking questions to encourage critical thinking, inquiry, and reasoning. In all courses, students evaluate, synthesize, and translate ideas to solve problems and complete projects. Teachers also encourage students to hone their reasoning and inquiry skills. These skills are essential for students to thrive in the 21st century. All classroom instruction is student-centered; education is collaborative; student learning explains circumstances that form the setting for an event, statement, or idea, and in terms of which it can be fully understood and assessed; the schools are integrated with society.
The National Honor Society recognizes high schoolers who meet high academic standards. The organization was founded in 1921. Today, over 1 million students participate in NHS, which has chapters around the world.
NHS is not only a valuable addition to a college application but gives you many leadership opportunities, which is great for both college and life in general.
National Elementary Honor Society
The National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS) provides students in grades 4–6 a place to develop and apply their passion for service while obtaining the skills to be confident young leaders for years to come.
